Elderly Club of Beit Sahour

The Centre for the Elderly, which was opened in 2001, is known as a welcoming environment where senior citizens can escape their solitude and spend time with friends. The centre is an active club that takes care of the elderly and provides them with healthcare and entertainment, as well as celebrating their birthdays each year. The centre’s mission is to help senior citizens to get in touch with life again, and to enjoy some happy moments in their final years. The following resources are provided to its 140 members: a shared breakfast program, a hot lunch program, social activities, health and cultural lectures, healthcare (both on-site and physician referral), physical fitness and twice-monthly recreational and cultural outings. The centre also provides laundry services to healthcare facilities and hotels in the area, which employs some of its elderly members and provides them with an income.
