It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the Municipality of Beit Sahour — a city deeply rooted in history, faith, heritage, and community, and one that looks confidently toward the future.
Beit Sahour, the City of the Shepherds, holds a unique place in the history and Christian tradition of the Holy Land. It is here, in the Shepherds’ Field, that the Gospel recounts how the angels proclaimed the birth of Jesus Christ to the shepherds. This sacred heritage has made Beit Sahour a destination of profound significance for pilgrims and visitors from around the world.
Yet, Beit Sahour is much more than its remarkable history and religious heritage. It is a vibrant and welcoming community shaped by generations of people who value hospitality, solidarity, education, culture, entrepreneurship, and service to others.
Our city is proud of its long-standing tradition of peaceful coexistence and partnership between Christians and Muslims. As Mayor, I believe that our role is not only to provide efficient and dignified services, but also to help ensure that Beit Sahour remains a city where people can live with dignity, participate in its development, pursue opportunities, and build a secure and hopeful future.
Our vision is built on three fundamental principles: Dignity. Participation. Sustainability.
We are working to strengthen municipal services and infrastructure, promote sustainable development, protect our environment and heritage, and create opportunities for local enterprise, tourism, and investment. We also recognize that progress is built through partnership with our residents, local institutions, churches and mosques, community organizations, businesses, youth, women, professionals, and international partners.
As we look to the future, we remain mindful of the strength, values, and spirit that have carried Beit Sahour through generations.
