- Beit Sahour Freedom Marathon
The Shepherds’ Scouts in cooperation with Beit Sahour Municipality hold an annual marathon that has three different parts, marathon for children and youngsters of different ages, women and business men. This sport event is one of the city’s most important and well- organized events that take place yearly in October. The purpose of the Marathon is to engage youth, men and women to take part and to enhance the spirit of competition.
- Basketball & Football Tournament of Beit Sahour Families
The youth sector in Beit Sahour is known for its leadership capabilities, as enthusiastic youth have been organizing football and basketball tournaments for the city’s families where each family forms its own football and basketball team to compete with the teams from other local families.
These tournaments became a tradition and a trademark for Beit Sahour that reflect the strong unity and social bonds as well as bringing locals closer in a friendly and joyful atmosphere of cheering and fun.
- Fakkous Festival (Snake Cucumber Festival)
Beit Sahour is known for its delicious Snake Cucumber agriculture and production. Al Fakkous Festival, is organized by Palestine Wildlife Society and Beit Sahour Municipality, it is a traditional festival for Beit Sahour and is celebrated in the month of June each year.
The festival is held in the alleys of the Old City and includes artistic, heritage and musical performances presented by the city’s young men and women, the elderly and children.
Such events help to preserve the cultural heritage of the city and keep that heritage alive for generations yet to come, as this event reflects the importance of the land and the people’s attachment to it.
- Hikaya Market
Hikaya, in Arabic, means narrative, tale or story. The idea behind Hikaya Market is to create a unique setting inside the historic center of Beit Sahour; in the narrow alleys, inside the traditional houses and in public plazas, to tell the story of the city, using different tools and mediums.
Hikaya Market takes place in the old town beginning of October from each year, by WASATA youth forum in cooperation with Beit Sahour Municipality, aiming to enhance the authentic culture of Beit Sahour by supporting the creative and talented locals on one hand, and presenting them and their products to the local and international community on the other.
