The Women’s Assembly of Beit Sahour was founded in late 2013 under the auspices of the Beit Sahour Municipality, aiming to increase women’s participation in decision-making within the Palestinian community of Beit Sahour. The assembly seeks to activate and enhance women’s capabilities in social, political, and cultural fields, with the goal of achieving effective female participation in local decision-making.
The Women’s Assembly includes members from various political, social, and economic backgrounds, resulting in significant diversity of experiences and competencies. This diversity positively contributes to the assembly’s role and its effective contribution to the community. The assembly includes active members of the municipal council who are engaged in monitoring women’s issues, as well as members dedicated to changing the status and role of women in Palestinian society.
The strategic objectives of the Women’s Assembly of Beit Sahour include enhancing women’s roles and contributions in social, cultural, and developmental work, and developing the capacities of the women’s framework, including policies and human resources. The strengths of the assembly lie in the commitment of its members to regular meetings, the diversity of experiences and competencies, and the presence of proactive and diligent members from various sectors and fields within the women’s framework of the assembly.
