The Services and Health Department continues its field work across Beit Sahour
Beit Sahour Municipality’s Services and Health Department is continuing its field programmes to keep the city clean, improve its environment and protect public health, through a series of works and activities carried out by the department’s crews across the city.
The work included collecting waste from the city’s neighbourhoods, clearing weeds from streets, pavements and public places, cleaning and washing the market square, removing health hazards from a number of sites, and pruning and caring for trees, helping to keep the city looking well and improving public safety.
To raise environmental awareness and encourage community participation, the Municipality held a volunteer awareness activity with students from a local school, planting trees and teaching the students about the importance of protecting the environment and green cover. It also held an activity with Beit Sahour youth, planting trees at several sites to increase green spaces and encourage volunteering and a sense of belonging and responsibility towards the environment and the city.
The Municipality’s Maintenance Department planted flowers and ornamental plants at a number of sites, roundabouts and public squares, as part of continuing efforts to make the city more beautiful and improve its public spaces.
The department’s crews also continued insect and pest control as part of their regular programme to protect public health and limit their spread in the areas concerned.
Beit Sahour Municipality will continue to develop its services to residents and strengthen its partnership with schools, youth organisations and the local community, for a clean, healthy, safe and beautiful environment for everyone.
