The second night of the “Beit Sahour Nights” festival: the Old City alive with joy, heritage and art
On the second night of the “Beit Sahour Nights” festival, Monday 27 July 2026, the Old City hosted an evening of entertainment, culture and heritage, attended by large numbers of residents, expatriates and visitors.
The evening began with a show by Amo Mini, whose interactive performance delighted the children, a reminder of Beit Sahour’s ability to create joy and bring smiles whatever the circumstances.
On stage, Al-Waha Centre presented a musical piece, “A Palette of Colours”, with Beit Sahour singer Amjad Khair, a message of the city’s care for its people with special needs and of its commitment to including them in every event as an integral part of the community.
The Beit Sahour Elderly Club performed a selection of folk and traditional songs that recalled the city’s artistic heritage, with the audience joining in the singing.
Mrs. Carmen Ghanem recited a poem about Beit Sahour expressing love for the city and pride in its history and heritage, and singer Kanaan Al-Ghoul delighted lovers of traditional music with a selection of classic songs that remain part of the memory of Beit Sahour’s people across the generations.
The evening also featured a fire show, the first of its kind to be included by Beit Sahour Municipality in its annual festivals, and the Beit Sahour Zaffeh troupe performed traditional songs that reflected the city’s heritage and helped keep its customs alive and pass them on to new generations.
The Mayor, the president of the Beit Sahour USA Association and the festival’s organising committee — the Wasata Centre for Youth Work, the Baqoun Folklore Dance Group and the Shepherds Scout Group — then honoured Mrs. Inas Salsaa, head of the Elderly Club; Mrs. Khawla Al-Tawil, Mrs. Heidi Hanouneh and Mrs. Fatina Khair for the fashion shows; Mr. Michel Qumsiyeh, director of the Baqoun group; Mr. Hussam Saad, director of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music; and the Municipality’s staff and workers, represented by Nader Odeh (Dalouna) and Maha Al-Atrash.
The evening closed with a concert by Amjad Khair and his band, led by Issa Jraiseh, who performed traditional and contemporary songs that drew an enthusiastic response from the audience, especially the city’s expatriates, who joined in the celebrations with joy, a sign of their deep attachment to their city and its heritage.
These events are part of the Expatriates Week programme, through which Beit Sahour Municipality seeks to revive the city’s heritage, strengthen ties between its residents and its expatriates, and offer cultural and entertainment programmes for all ages.
